  5. and lung cancer; in Los Angeles. Remick's film debut, as a blond
  6. Southern baton twirler, came in 1957 with A Face in the Crowd.
  7. Remick won an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for
  8. portraying a tormented alcoholic in 1962's Days of Wine and
  9. Roses. Her 1966 performance on Broadway in Wait Until Dark, as
  10. a blind woman terrorized by criminals who had invaded her home,
  11. resulted in a Tony nomination.
